Hospital Double Action Bi-fold Bariatric
The Pacific Double Action Bi-fold Bariatric door set is designed for maximising access into bathrooms with bariatric requirements creating easier accessibility and better use of available space, in comparison to a standard hinged door set.
It consists of a double acting bifold door in conjunction with a hinged door in a common frame. The reduced swing action of the bi-folding doors means that, when open, the door projects into the room only a third as much as a standard door. The secondary hinged leaf can be held closed independently and only opened when required.
The Double Action Bi-fold Bariatric door set can be accessed from either direction using the same opening action.
The action of the door is also easier to open for users with mobility impairments and from a wheelchair.
A patient lifting system rail can run through the door set uninterrupted to allow patients to be hoisted in easily.
The door set consists of solid-core flush-panel door leaves mounted in a steel frame.

Leaf Sizes
The Double Action Bi-fold Bariatric door set is specified by stating the clear opening required when the door is open. The door set is manufactured with a standard clear opening of 1395mm.
This equates to door leaf widths of 697/389/550mm and overall frame width of 1718mm. The leaf and frame height can be made to suit site requirements.

Leaf Edges
The Pacific Double Action Bi-fold Bariatric door set includes aluminium extrusion capping to all the vertical edges. The standard finish of the capping is natural anodized (silver).

Pressed steel frames are available customised to suit client’s requirements.

Hardware
High-quality hardware is supplied with the door set, including:
- Allegion Brio RSD75 pivots and rollers
- Allegion L9V25 mortice lock
- Allegion LA704INDS privacy indicator plate with emergency release and lever as external handle
- Allegion LA754RINDS with disabled thumb turn and lever as internal handle
- Chain latch or extended flush bolt (DW1240-600) to secure the inactive leaf
The double-acting hinge between the two door leaves is proprietary hardware exclusive to Pacific Door Systems Ltd.
Seals
Seals are fitted to the vertical edges for visual privacy control.
Testing
The Pacific Double Action Bi-fold door set has been subjected to cyclic testing of 100,000 cycles. The door set was installed in a purpose-built test rig simulating robust opening and closing of the door in both directions. The testing was independently witnessed by Opus Central Laboratories as described in their report 525558.00 dated Jan 2011.
As this door set is generally located in bathrooms, vision panels are not commonly required. However should you wish to have a vision panel, this can be arranged.
